Sažetak
The article deals with the construction of the narrative on the battle of Krbava Field where numerous Croatian noblemen lost their lives in 1493. The accounts on the battle spread immediately after the battle, offering couple of versions of the events. Second part of the article is devoted to the rhetoric used for maintaining the narrative in the period from the sixteenth century to eighteenth century, while the third examines the circumstances leading to the increase in political and social importance of the narrative in the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The final part of the article focuses on the history of the narrative of the battle within the framework of various Croatian state formations of the twentieth century.
