Sažetak
Baboon syndrome (BS) was first described in 1984 by Andersen et al. as a particular type of systemic contact dermatitis, characterized by exanthema with involvement of the buttocks and flexural exanthema. Recently, BS was replaced with term SDRIFE (symmetrical drug-related intertriginous and flexural exanthema) which describes a specific skin eruption (resembling the red gluteal area of baboons) that occurred after systemic exposure to contact allergens. This term specifically refers to the distinctive clinical pattern of drug eruption induced by exposure to a systemically administered drug. We present a 64-year-old Caucasian female and absence of systemic symptoms and signs. The exanthema appeared two days after she had taken sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim systemically, which she had been taking periodically for recurrent urinary infection. Immediate discontinuation of sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim and a short course of systemic treatment with prednisone and loratadine and betamethasone cream led to complete remission within a week. There is no family or personal history of atopy. Medical history includes thyroid disease, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Her current medications included Ievothyroxine-sodium, ramiprilum, bisoprolol fumarate, and simvastatin, which she had been taking for many years. Routine laboratory tests revealed no abnormalities. This is the first report case of systemic drug- induced intertriginous and flexural exanthema associated with sulfamethoxazole - trimethoprim.
