Sažetak
Web is shifting its focus from the text and images towards “on-demand” usage and automated environment that provides new information and knowledge. Higher education institutions are increasingly using Web 3.0 applications such as intelligent agents, bots, and wikis. An in depth study was conducted on the sample of respondents from the University of Zagreb, in order to explore to what extent wikis are used in higher education institutions, as well as to present examples of using wikis in education and to explore the barriers and incentives for using wikis in higher education. Results of the research revealed that the most successful project was actually lead by the students who were supported by their professor. Other respondents gave up on the wiki project and/or do not even plan to start a new one due to the lack of management support and because they are already burdened with other activities. Our conclusion is that participants are more willing to devote their time to wiki projects if there is a mission of sharing the knowledge with other stakeholders. In that case, management support is not crucial for the success of the wiki project.
