Sažetak
Postal network is one of the basic requirements for the implementation of sustainable universal postal service. It allows every citizen access to a basic set of postal services by the equal, transparent conditions and with a certain level of quality of service. In recent years, global postal services are decreasing in the segment of traditional business (letters, financial services). This results in negative financial performance of postal service providers and the sustainability of the network itself. Therefore, the postal service providers are restructuring their operations, as well as postal network, taking into account the sustainability of basic postal services. Most countries of the European Union ensure certain obligations (criteria) which universal service providers must meet to ensure the realization of the universal service. These criteria vary from country to country, giving their own choice of an optimal model for the density of the postal network.
