Sažetak
Recent casting production is impossible without the implementation of new strategies and concepts. The main objectives of these concepts are highly material utilization, with minimal number of forming operations. This scientific work, based on base scientific knowledge about solidification process, resulted in recommendation of gating system geometry for particular casting and cast iron grade. An example of good practice has been shown in developing the casting technology of thin-walled casting, i.e. solid fuel furnace cover. The casting material quality (GJL-100) indicates superior properties, primarily due to short solidification time of thin-walled casting, which ultimately indicates a lower possibility of porosity occurrence.
