Sažetak
Zadar County is one of the Croatian counties which developing a new waste management centers for municipal solid waste. The main waste management goals are to provide a waste management system that will help achieve national goals, respecting regional differences, to provide an economically justified (cost-effective) waste management system in accordance with national and international standards. Regional goals for Zadar County have been defined based on the Waste Management Strategy of the Republic of Croatia and include the following: avoiding waste generation and reducing amount of waste generated at source, reducing the amount of waste for disposal, improving waste disposal to disposal sites, improving waste management on islands, cooperation among local self-government units, improving of monitoring in waste management. All of these activities have very strong public reaction in implementation phase of the project. Awareness is very low so it was necessary to implement consumer education and raise awareness of the need for adequate waste management system. During the March 2015 we developed education project EDU Zadar. This was actually, effective training for the representatives of cities in Zadar County. The result was very good and they are detail described in the paper.
