Sažetak
The focus of this paper is to determine the optimal cutting parameters in surface milling. These parameters will ensure a minimum time of production and at the same time the required quality of machined surface of the workpieces with complex geometry, concretely the mould for making steering wheel as part of a student project "Formula". In order to determine the optimal cutting parameters, the equation for predicting production time and surface roughness will be the object function, which includes constraints on allowable areas of cutting parameters. An equation for calculating production time is obtained by means of regression analysis of experimental data. The experimental data will be obtained by performing experiments according to the adopted design of experiments in a virtual environment, i.e. all experiments will be simulated on a computer in the software package CATIA. Optimization is carried out through the method of artificial intelligence in order to meet two basic criteria: a minimum cutting time and satisfactory surface quality.
