Sažetak
In seismic resistance evaluation of framed- masonry structures, masonry wall should be treated as equally worthy structural component. Orthotropic properties of the wall, especially those made of clay hollow masonry units, are an obstacle in assessment of its contribution under seismic action. To describe properly the influence of clay hollow masonry units, we applied 3D micro modelling. We developed two models of masonry unit by using the principle of composite action. Properties in horizontal and vertical direction matched those from the experiment. In combination with a calibrated interface material model, they were validated through analysis of a masonry wall. Analysis results showed high correlation with test results without additional calibration.
