Sažetak
The present legal opinion deals with the draft amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia, which had been prepared by a working group established under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia on 8 June 2007.The Amendments have been aimed to: a) establish the procedure of confirmation of judges and the requirements for a candidate ; b) clarify the term of office ; c) make the procedure of the Constitutional Court more efficient ; d) establish the position of the secretary general of the Constitutional Court ; e) introduce additional social guarantees for judges (the same as those granted to members of Parliament).
