Sažetak
The corporate governance field determines the way in which a company is being managed and supervised. The topic of this paper is to research and analyse whether the practice of corporate governance influences the company performance. Limited companies in Croatia, unless there are legal requirements and regulations of certain segments of their businesses, do not necessarily respect all the principles and recommendations that can be found in the non-binding documents such as the Code of Corporate Governance. All of that has a negative influence on the company's performance success, and a broader scope is reflected in the overall economic situation in the country. Following the introduction in the first part of the paper, there is a more detailed definition of the research topic. The continuation sets a theoretical framework of the corporate governance issues, as well as an overview of extracts of the papers dealing with theoretical and empirical research in this topic up to date. The analysis of those secondary data sources (literature review) draws to a conclusion that corporate governance is an important factor in explaining a company performance
