Sažetak
The paper deals with English and Russian intonation patterns and their usage. It explains the main constituents of intonation phrases and the importance of the right utilization of tone movements in conversation. The paper points out different approaches to the study of intonation and lists the examples of its proper usage. Furthermore, the study compares intonation patterns of the two languages and points out their similarities and differences. Various types of sentences are studied in order to cover the possibilities of their use. In the end, the study shows different functions of intonation and explains their importance.
