Sažetak
The last several years have seen an increased interest in the use of induced hypothermia after witnessed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The main point for its use is brain protection and better neurological outcomes in these patients. Therefore, induced hypothermia after CPR has become a part of recommendations in the last 2005 Guidelines for Resuscitation. But at the same time, hypothermia has many adverse effects. In the case of prehospital and/or inhospital inducing of hypothermia without adequate monitoring and controlled cooling, hypothermia can cause serious complication, without beneficial effects on the brain. This article shows most frequently adverse effects of hypothermia and possible hazardous outcome for patients.
