Sažetak
Bronze objects exposed to their environment gradually get covered by patina layers. They have both aesthetic and protective function as in low polluted atmospheres patina significantly reduces dissolution of underlying alloy. As spontaneous formation of patina is slow it is common to chemically or electrochemically form patina on bronze objects. To increase the stability of either naturally or artificially patinated bronze corrosion inhibitors, lacquerers or waxes are often used. In this work artificial patina is prepared by various chemical and electrochemical procedures. Patinated samples are then treated with ethanol solution of long chain carboxylic or phosphonic acids in order to form protective organic layer on the top of the patina layer. Its efficiency is then examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in artificial rain. Results obtained show that long chain organic acids can significantly reduce dissolution of artificially patinated bronze objects.
