Sažetak
The wide application of surfactants may seriously affect the environment. Therefore their determination is of great importance. Among the methods for their determination, the two-phase titration method and Methylene Blue Active Substances (MBAS) spectrophotometric method are more frequently used. The both methods suffer from many drawbacks that can be mostly eliminated by using of surfactant selective electrodes. A new screen-printed microsensor (SPMS) based on dimethyldioctadecylammonium-tetraphenylborate (DDA-TPB) ion pair, used as ionophore, was applied as detector for quantitation of AS by use of sequential injection analysis (SIA). The response characteristics of the new SPMS were investigated toward the two most frequently used AS, sodium dodecylsulfate (NaDDS) and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (NaDBS). The both surfactants, NaDDS and NaDBS exhibited linear response in the region of 3, 2·10^-6 – 1, 0·10^-3 M for DDS and 8, 5·10^-6 – 1, 0·10^-3 M for DBS. The SPMS revealed subnernstian slope 50, 1 ± 1, 9 mV/decade for NaDDS and 44, 2 ± 3, 3 mV/decade for NaDBS. The limits of detection were 2, 9·10^-6 M for NaDDS and 4, 6·10^-6 M for NaDBS. The new SPMS was tested in the solutions of commercial detergent products and industrial wastewater. The obtained results showed very good corellation with results obtained by standard methods (MBAS and two-phase titration method).
