Sažetak
Weekly counts of emergency room admissions due to asthma and all respiratory causes were analysed. The counts were roughly Poisson distributed and overdispersed. After controlling for trend and the long-term (over two months) seasonal variation, there was no association with weekly meteorological data (average temperature, air pressure and relative humidity). There was a significant association at p<0.05 with the average weekly NO_2 concentration. The approximate relative risks corresponding to 10 micro g/m^3 increase in average weekly NO_2 concentration for asthma and all respiratory causes was 1.137 (95% confidence interval 1.005 to 1.287) and 1.067 (95% confidence interval 1.002 to 1.136) respectively.
