Sažetak
The aim of this study vvas to obtain as objectively as possible an evaluation and comparison of the history of diseases in two groups of patients with bronchial asthma, the one who had recieved specific hyposensitization, and another group without this treatment. The other medicine was about the same in both groups. In the group of patients treated with allergen injections, there were 140 patients of both sex who were between 10 and 70 years old. The control group consisted of 101 patients selected in this way to be about the same age groups, sex and skin reaction on allergen as in the treated group. Both groups were un- der control between two and six years. The one of collaborations who prepared materials for this retro- grade study did not take part in the evoluation of the patient's state, but he put aside ali the traces vvhich could indicate if the patient had received allergens or not. The evaluation of the patient's state was made by the other three collaborators independently one from another. Using this methođ we found that among patients who had received hyposensitization there were 61 per cent cases evaluated as improved, but among those vvho were not treated with hyposensitization there were only 45 per cent. The difference was statistically significant with the risk of 5 per cent. Patients \vith high senbility to house dust (skin tests 3 or 4 plus) treated with allergens vvere improved in 70 per cent cases. That was statistically a significant diference toward the control group. There was not difference in improvement of two groups if the skin tests were slightly positive to house dust. Our results also show that the improvements are more frequent if the treated patients received injections regularly, while the sex and age group did not influence the results of treatment. The need to prepare the allergens which could. have stronger imunological qualities is also pointed out.
