Sažetak
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is local dilatation of part of the aorta. Area of aneurysm is weaker than normal wall and blood pressure causes weaker sections to expand. AAA usually causes no symptoms other than symptoms related to rupture (abdominal and back pain). In last decade significant progress was made in numerical modeling of AAA. Although, it is still not possible to predict further evolution of illness. Aortic wall is complexly organized into layers which are built of cells and extracellular proteins. Healthy aorta is composed of three layers: intima, media, and adventitia. Each of these layers contains different amount of constituents (elastin, collagen fibers, and smooth muscle cells).
