Sažetak
The paper presents the results of the treatment of the first 103 patients with ureteral stones, treated at the seccnd generation lithotriptor Siemens "Lithostar". The analysis is made of the data obtained 6 months after the treatmant. Out the first 500 urolithiasis patients treated at our Department by ESWL method, 103 suffered from ureteral stones situated in the upper, middle or the lower ureteral third. Most stones were treated "in situ" and additional ureterorenoscopy and "Push&Bang" were applied only rarely. To 3.6% of the patients analgesics and occasionally sedatives were given. The treated group comprised 61 males and 42 females, aged 4-76 years. The mean age was 44 years. The upper ureteral third situated 18.75% of the stones, whereas 17.86% of them we were in the middle and 63.39% in the lower third. In 82.52% of the patients the stones were treated "in situ", whereas 13.59% of them required additional endourological procedures and 3.88% a prior percutaneous nephrostomy. Six months after the treatment 96% of all ureteral stones were cured (95.24% in the upper, 95% in the middle and 97.18% in the lower ureteral third). Our success rate of 96% shows ureteral stones to respond very well to "in situ" ESWL treatment. We believe that ureterorenoscops and "Push&Bang" should be applied only in case "in situ" ESWL is not successful.
