Sažetak
Poly(ethylene terephthalate), PET, is thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family attractive for engineering plastic applications in areas of electronics, constructions and consumer products. PET films are also used in photographic applications, optical lenses, CDs and DVDs and X-rays sheets. The thermal stability and mechanical properties of PET films are very important for its applications. The addition of nanofiller in PET films has significant influence on the mechanical and thermal properties. Characteristics of the filler (particle size, shape, and surface area) and also adhesion at the interface between the filler and polymer matrix are essential in designing PET nanocomposite films with desired properties. In this work poly(ethylene terephthalate) nanocomposite film with 1wt% of nanodiamond terminated with carboxylic groups (PET- NDCOOH), PET nanocomposite film containing 1 wt% of NDCOOH and 0.3 wt% nanographene platelets (PET- NDCOOH-NGP) and a neat PET film have been prepared by melt extrusion. The thermal behaviour of the PET nanocomposites films was studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Mechanical properties were determined by tensile tests performed on strips that were cut from the prepared films in parallel and perpendicular directions with respect to the direction of film preparation. The analysis of Raman spectra of prepared nanocomposites films were performed in order to understand the influence of NDCOOH and NGP on the formation of the final polymer-nanofiller network and consequently mechanical and thermal properties.
