Sažetak
Family with its shape, structure and relationships affects the overall development of the child. Numerous studies suggest that different aspects of the negative family dynamics (e.g. frequent conflicts and aggression between family members and poor marital and parental functioning) are associated with behavioural problems of young people, particularly with anti-social behaviour, drug abuse, high-risk sexual activities of children and school failure. In this study method of analysis of documentation and survey method were used to investigate the various family risk factors which may contribute to drug abuse. The results were analyzed using SPSS statistical software version 13, with the level of statistical significance P<0, 05. In data interpretations nonparametric statistic method (Kruskal-Wallis one way analysis of variance), Mann-Whitney test, χ2 test and Fisher’s exact test were used. The risk factors of parenting were viewed comprehensively and included relevant factors relating to the individual characteristics and behaviours of parents, marital and family functioning and characteristics of socio-economic, cultural and wider social environment. Within the individual characteristics of parents some socio-demographic parameters may contribute to the risky processes (educational status, employment status, marital status), as well as parental rearing practices and upbringing style, coping with stress and satisfaction with the quality of life. Within the family context, the risk factors of parenting include the quality of communication and relationships between parents and children, residential and financial status of the family, the size and structure of family, the quality of family support. Within the cultural and social context, the risk factors refer to the family social support, availability of the services of various institutions and agencies, and the features of the local community in which the family lives. Considering the number of risky factors, only a few factors within the individual, family and social domains will be analyzed in this paper.
