Sažetak
The ability of fibres to limit the propagation of cracks presents a basic parameter in ensuring extended service life and reduced maintenance costs of the structures. Cracks on concrete surface occur during different stages of lifetime, since the hardening onwards, therefore, each phase requires fibres with specific properties. Appropriate behaviour of concrete during the entire service life can be achieved by combining different fibre types. The main goal of this research is a partial replacement of manufactured steel fibres (M) with unsorted recycled tyre steel fibres (RTSF) to prepare sustainable hybrid fibre reinforced concrete (HFRC). To make this kind of composites applicable in civil engineering practice, it is necessary to carry out further optimization in order to reduce costs, increase productivity and the speed of work which is enabled by designing fibre reinforced self-compacting concrete. Performed analysis confirmed that a sustainable HFRC of required properties can be prepared based on an optimum quantity and proportion of two types of fibres. An improved energy absorbing capacity of these types of concrete can at the same time be achieved when self-compacting cement matrix is used instead of ordinary cement matrix. Rheological properties of self-compacting matrix provide better dispersion and orientation of recycled fibres and in such way ensure better post-cracking behaviour.
