Sažetak
As a consequence of water deficits due to climate changes, long-lasting and intensive droughts have been recorded in the wider area of the Republic of Croatia in recent years, causing considerable damage to agricultural production, so that the state of natural disaster had to be declared in some parts. In addition to the said consequence water deficit in the growing period in increasing limiting agricultural production and diminishing yields. Water deficit in average years in north-western Croatia amounted 73.4 mm (cabbage), 82.1 mm (sunflower), 101.8 mm (tomato), 133.9 mm (apple) and 147.7 mm (sugar beet), whereas water deficit in dry years amounted 161.8 mm (sunflower), 174.1 mm (cabbage), 186.9 mm (sugar beet), 193.2 mm (tomato) and 203.0 mm (apple). In average hydrological years in north-western Croatia could be achieved increasing 2.8% (sunflower), 9.5% (tomato), 16.1% (cabbage), 24.4% (apple)and 31.9% (sugar beet).
