Sažetak
In the last fifteen years, research on Croatian as a second language is becoming a fast growing topic of research of applied linguistic. In the research focus are learning/teaching of Croatian as a foreign language and research on Croatian as a heritage language (for the overview see Jelaska 2005, Cvikic 2012, 2015), while research on bilingualism with the Croatian language as a language A (LA) and another Slavic language as a language B (LB) are very still very rare (Jelaska i Hržica 2005), even though over 50% of all minority language speakers in Croatia belong to a group of Slavic language speakers. One goal of the project Comparative Slavic Linguocultural Themes (CNSF) is to shed more lights on bilingualism with related languages. This paper deals with the question if and how the educational system in Croatia promotes and develops bilingualism with related languages in the educational programs for national minorities. Research will be based on the analysis of syllabus for a mother tongue (Czech and Serbian) and the Croatian language in primary education. It will be investigated whether the educational system recognizes the possibility to use a positive transfer of related languages to increase language skills in both languages, as well as how is the bi-literacy (Cyrillic and Latin script) being developed in the first grade of primary schools. As a result, some guidelines for teaching practice will be given.
