Sažetak
In this article, the author analyses some issues about maritime law in the Statute of Šibenik of the 14th century. In the introduction, the sources which influenced the development of maritime law are cited. Then, several maritime law issues are analysed: vessel ownership, collegantia contract, passenger transport, procedure of retaliation (represaglia), securing claims for people preparing to set sail, and investigation procedure against pirates. Apart from the influences of Venetian law and the Zadar Statute, the Statute of Šibenik resolves some issues independently, attempting to provide conditions for the safe and uninterrupted development of seafaring. Besides the provisions of statutory law and amended reformations and provisions of the Venetian government, some issues were also regulated by customary law.
