Sažetak
This paper examines the relationship between behavioral control and over-indebtedness among Croatian financial consumers. Firstly, the aim of this paper is to detect and categorize the levels of indebtedness and behavioral control of Croatian financial consumers. Second objective is to determine whether the debt behavior of the respondents will differ with respect to behavioral control level and the third objective is to examine the source of differences in debt behavior associated with different levels of behavioral control. In order to categorize the levels of consumer indebtedness and behavioral control, cluster analysis is used. The effects of behavioral control on indebtedness are investigated using rank-based nonparametric test Kruskal Wallis H test. Finally, to examine the source of the differences in the debt behavior, with respect to different behavioral control levels, a post hoc analysis using Dunnett’s C test is conducted. The findings of our research show statistically significant difference in the levels of households’ indebtedness with respect to different behavioral control levels.
