Sažetak
The studies of chemical hydrography, nutrients, chlorophyll a and phytoplankton density point to the fact that, for the past decade, an increase in the eutrophication level has persisted in all the areas of the eastern Adriatic coast (bays) except in the area of Dubrovnik that is affected by the open sea. The area of Šibenik and Ploče are also characterizby the markedly high phytoplankton biomass, presumbly due to the effects of fresh water inputs by the rivers Krka and Neretva respectively and to urban sewage and effluent disposal.
