Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to analyse the capacity of employing people with disabilities within the juxtaposition of the European Union and in the Croatian Labour Market. This thesis shall focus on how there has been a shift in assumption, concept, and viewing reality when we speak of the term “disability”. Such rethinking has shaped how Europe sees the importance of integrating those with disability into the labour market. It is in this light, that the European perspective on disability shall be observed paying particular attention to the European Union’s policies, objectives and strategy towards employing people with disability, as well as the responsibility of member states and how such policies are realized. As The Republic of Croatia is currently undergoing European Union accession, it is therefore important to understand the Croatian perspective, and understand if it is indeed in lines with European standards and norms. Therefore, the second section of this thesis shall predominately review the Croatian context, specifically appraising economic and employment determinants, as well as assessing the laws, policies and developments with regards to employing people with disabilities into the Croatian labour market.
