Sažetak
Threat of terrorist attack is today’s reality and the most vulnerable structures are public transportation facilities which are, by the definition, designed to be accessible. Motivation for this research is following scenario: malicious person drives a car or a small truck under the overpass bridge, leaves it and detonates the explosive charge. The purpose is to investigate the effect of explosion on the overpass bridge and it’s superstructure. Explosion under the bridge is modeled using Autodyn software and the resulting pressures are observed, depending on the type of the abutment and shape of superstructure. Explosion of three TNT charges are modeled (115 kg, 230 kg and 630 kg), and a number of finite element sizes are investigated in order to evaluate accuracy of the results. Some practical guidelines and remarks regarding the modeling and experimental setup are given.
