Sažetak
An attempt is made to show how the prototype meaning expressed in one language is communicated in another, how this non-specific meaning becomes more specific in two different languages, and how the collocations differ in the two languages analysed, in this case, in English and Croatian. The examples for this investigation were chosen from the area of sport injuries, namely, dental and orofacial sport injuries. Reality, not only the theoretical linguistic approach, was taken into account since there is no model of grammatical description capable of providing an impeccable description. Both the context and the situation play an important role in shaping and establishing the actual nuances of word meanings.
