Sažetak
Croatia has reportedly been recording small growth in overall entrepreneurship activities. However, tourism related activities indicate a substantial growth for entrepreneurs seeking to better their offer and introduce new products and services. Croatia's economy has continual negative growth due to a prolonged recession. Reasons for bad figures should be analysed through transition between social and economic systems in the early 1990s, unsuccessful economic policies based on deindustrialization in the post-war era and absence of policies that would reform the economy. One of the solutions sought for ending the recession is tourism, a growing sector closely interconnected with other industries that can reverse Croatia’s general trend in economy. Having international crises in mind, this research aims to elucidate the role of tourism in economy’s growth combined with a survey that analysed the respondents’ perception of the tourism’s role in the economy. The research showed that there is direct correlation between crises and decrease in proceeds from tourism.
