Sažetak
The era of endoscopic surgery in Croatia began in 1992. In that period endoscopic surgery was introduced in General Hospital Varaždin too. In fact, the development of endoscopic surgery in Croatia and in General Hospital Varaždin can not be separated. The most of first courses of endoscopic surgery in Croatia: cholecystectomy course on the pig (September 1992), laparoscopic suturing course (October 1993), the course of laparoscopic inguinal hernia operation, TAPP method, (July 1994), the course of gynecology laparoscopic operations (December 1994) were held in General Hospital Varaždin. 2nd Croatian Congress of Endoscopic surgery was held in Varaždin in 1994 when we reported on the range of laparoscopic procedures previously done in General Hospital Varaždin: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic suture of perforated gastric ulcers, laparoscopic curative colon resection and laparoscopic surgery by Nissen. In the last 20 years of endoscopic surgery in Croatia we were following all innovations, educating young staff and stayed at the top of endoscopic surgery in Croatia which was confirmed by our organization of 12th Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in 2014 in Varaždin. With this presentation we would like to present the history of endoscopic surgery in Varaždin as a very important part of endoscopic surgery in Croatia.
