Sažetak
Gastric banding is a bariatric procedure developed in late seventies when first nonadjustable band was used. Idea of gastric banding was further developed in early eigthies. Kuzmak operated a first patient using adjustable gastric band in 1986. First laparoscopic gastric banding procedure was done in 1993, and the same procedure is done in KBC Sestre milosrdnice since 2004. Despite the fact that LAGB is a safe procedure with evident weigth loss in operated patients there is a worldwide reduction in number of LAGB procedures. Number of LAGB procedures also decreased in KBC Sestre milosrdnice. In this presentation we will state reasons for LAGB procedure decreas, but will also provide evidence that LAGB is still a reasonable procedure for the right indications.
