Sažetak
This paper examines trend changes in road safety levels in Croatia on the part of the transport network of the highest significance, the dual carriageway motorways, where the increase in overall number of traffic accident is observed. The aim of this research is to introduce new methods which could be used to increase traffic safety, and thus reduce the number of traffic accidents. Taking into account the fact that EuroRAP has, according to the European average, raised the standard of safety for Risk Rating, this paper further studies the causes of the observed reduction in safety ratings on Motorways. This paper also presents the results of a systematic analysis of the trends in traffic accidents risk rate in Croatia and emphasizes the need to implement appropriate countermeasures in order to raise traffic safety.
