Sažetak
In the recent years, lot of research has been done and many articles have been published from the field of wood protection and chemical modification of wood at the Institute of Wood Science. Using modern methods and European standards and on the top of the edge laboratory equipment, promising results were achieved. Results are primarily related to the effects of wood sterilization by heating and gamma rays and to the biological durability of modified domestic wood species. This paper summarizes the research described above. The main results of these studies, are presented in a way of possibile application in practice.
