Sažetak
For estimation of strain life fatigue parameters from monotonic properties number of different methods were developed and proposed in literature. In most of these methods, experimentally determined strain life parameters are directly and independently of each other correlated with one or more monotonic material properties. According to the recently proposed novel approach, since in the strain life approach the fatigue life of the material is defined by ∆ε/2-2Nf data, estimation of fatigue parameters should be based on identifying and establishing relationships between the selected monotonic property and ∆ε/2-2Nf relations. Following this premise, expressions for estimation of fatigue parameters of 42CrMo4 steels from Brinell hardness were previously developed. In this paper, development, main features of the proposed approach and its possible extensions and further development are discussed. Using previously mentioned expressions, proposed approach is evaluated and compared with the three prominent estimation methods (Uniform Material Law, Median Method and Roessle-Fatemi’s Hardness Method) using a test dataset of 32 differently heat-treated low- alloy 42CrMo4 steels.
