Sažetak
Aromatic surfactants are chemicals of high environmental concern. It was shown that nonionic surfactants of the nonylphenol polyethoxylate type have a rather complex metabolic pattern characterised by formation of persistent metabolites, which are more toxic to the aquatic life than the parent compounds. The analytical determination of these ecotoxic metabolites requires a very sophisticated analytical approach based on high resolution chromatographic techniques and highly specific detection.
