Sažetak
By explaining the emergence and positioning of a recently emerged Croatian religiopolitical social movement (whose core is made of several citizens associations that argue in favour of conservative-Christian values) the paper will explain why and how those associations recognized involvement in the juridical field (i.e. referencing to international and domestic legal norms as well as proposals for legislation amending) as an arena through which the social movement’s claims could be successfully articulated. The research question this paper will seek to establish is why and how social movement actors have managed to use involvement in the juridical field to leverage power from the government in their interest? In answering the above posed question, the paper will additionally try to establish the following: to what extent such mobilizing structure is shaped by opportunities, framing processes, and contentious interaction in the Croatian politics and society? I aim furthermore to assess the potential impact of neo-conservative interest groups and social movements on the Croatian politics and democracy.
