Sažetak
It can be concluded on the Basis of the above mentioned data, that among the population of Yugoslavia whose life span and life expectancy is the highest, the population from the seaside areas of Yugoslavia range first. Which is the cause of this phenomenon? It is difficult to give a definite answer. Without daubt, important factors are a relatively high civilization and sanitary habits of the people who live in the seaside areas. It is possible that also the nutrition of the people in these regions plays an important role. In the seaside areas, food rich in animal fat is relatively less used and there are fewer obese people than in most other areas of Yugoslavia. However, it is possible, that positive factors for the longevity are the favourable climate conditions which prevail on the right side of the Adriatic coast. The moderate temperature during the whole year, a low per cent of moisture in the air, the small quantity of dust in the air, the favourable insolation, sea baths and other factors can afford favourable living conditions for the aged. It will be necessary to perform further systematic exploration in this field, yet we considered these data worth mentioning. They express a natural phenomenon in the population structure which prevails in our country and which shows, without doubt, that there are favourable conditions for a long life at the Adriatic seaside.
