Sažetak
Economic power of the developed world leaders, and, on the other side, non-competitiveness of the countries in transition on the global market (caused by late acceptance and introduction of technological changes) often causes acceptance of unacceptable (for the country from the aspect of risk taking) international projects. Realization of such projects, even though the possible risks doesn’t come to realize/happen, imposes particular transformations in restructuring national economy. That way , long and medium term plans of development are being set which are not in concordance with competitiveness of the inherited national resources of the countries in transition. In that context a particularly utilizable platform is information technology, including a continuous development and expansion of the application in all activities which might have consequences to wide national interests of the country in transition , countries such as Republic of Croatia. That implies/requires significant and radical changes in thinking through decisions and decision making of different/all political decisions in context of acceptance or refusal of the international projects offered, regardless of benefits/points these projects offers. Here we have, forcing itself upon us, a purposefulness and utility of business intelligence application, due to significance and quickness of the important information flow , that is the flow of information important to adopting/making of strategic political decisions on the national level in context of the international projects which are being offered . Besides resources at disposal and economic potential, a timely and accurate information and the knowledge coming out of the information , are a dominant resource for making of such decisions , but they are also a platform of the sustainable survival of a small country in the economic integration. The problems which relevant levels, making decisions, are facing are a huge databases often lacking usable information and knowledge based on them, particularly in the sense of different risks , which is a necessary premise for making correct, relevant and nationally acceptable economic decisions. Unlike traditional approach which is treating information as an exciting element , business intelligence starts from the premise that the information is a resource which opens a completely new insights with regards to making a final decision - acceptance or rejection of certain proposition , that is, acceptance of international project The governments of the countries undergoing the transition often do not manage databases efficiently , and thus they posses no relevant information, when they need it, to make a decision of national importance. Business intelligence is a process of utilizing information, and facts coming out of it , which may serve for efficient measuring, monitoring, predicting and managing in the process of making of all the decisions , including those of particular national interest. The successful application of Business intelligence on the level of making of strategic national economic decisions contributes to significant decrease of risks coming out of exposing valuable national resources to the international projects offered which should be realized on the territory of this small country undergoing the transition. Business intelligence makes possible both evolution and consolidation of the procedure of making political decisions of particular national interest in the field of economy, with the purpose of preserving valuable national resources in global environment.
