Sažetak
Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the most common crop in Croatia. According to Croatian Bureau of Statistics in the decade period 2002 - 2011 average maize harvested area in Croatia was 325 491 ha with yield variation from 4.2 t ha -1 to 8.0 t ha-1. The aim of this study was to determine the yield differences among 10 maize hybrids created in Agricultural Institute Osijek (Drava404, Os430, OsSK444, Os499, OsSK515, Os5717, OsSK552, OsSK596, OsSK602, OsSK617) which were grown on the acid soil (pH 4.65 in KCl) at the location in the east Croatia during 2010. The growing season 2010 was extremely wet. In the period May-September precipitation was 606 mm or about twofold in comparison with long term average (LTA 315 mm). At the same time mean air temperature was higher (19.5 °C) in comparison with LTA (18.8 °C). Mean yield of maize in experiment was 9.83 t ha-1 with variation among the hybrids from 8.33 to 11.57 t ha-1. Differences between the highest and the lowest grain yield was 3.24 t ha -1 or 28%. Regarding grain yield, the OsSK 602 and OsSK 617 hybrids (H9 and H10) showed greater susceptibility (mean yield 8.4 t ha-1) while hybrids Drava 404 and Os 499 (H1 and H4) were more tolerant (mean yield 11.4 t ha-1) to these soil conditions.
