Sažetak
Maize production in Turkey is conducted under irrigation regularly in two planting dates (seasons). No information is available about effect and interaction of plant density and the two seasons on different maize hybrids. Objective of this study was to determine effects and interactions of two planting dates and four plant densities on ten hybrids grown in Turkey in 2013. Planting dates were May 9 and July 10 representing two seasons, whereas plant densities were 55 000, 65 000, 75 000 and 85 000 plants per hectare. According to the F-test in threefactor ANOVA, main factors of planting date and hybrid were highly significant, while plant density was significant. All interactions among them were highly significant. In average, grain yield differed between seasons for 3.24 t ha-1. Plant density plays a minor role probably because of lack of competition among plants due to sufficient water provided by optimal irrigation. However, there are significant interactions among growing season, plant density and hybrid for grain yield indicating different response of maize hybrids when grown in two seasons across various plant densities.
