Sažetak
The objective of this research has been to determine the effects of gold salts (Na- aurotiomalat-Tauredon 8yk Gulden) on the decreasing of the total IgA, IgG and IgM in the serum of patients with rheumatoid arthritis during sixmonth continuous application of gold salts. The group being tested comprised 8 men and 35 women with apositive diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (ARA criteria). Their average age being 50.0 years, the average disease course 9.5 years. During a six-month continuous intramuscular application of Na- aurotiomalat development of the level of immunoglobulin in the serum, classes IgA, IgG and IgM, has been observed in regular intervals (after 30, 60, 120 and 180 days of the beginning of therapy). Their level being determined by electroimmunodiffusion (using Laure" rocket test) and immunoelectrophoresis (using polyvalent antihuman horse serum) of the same immunoglobulin classes. The evaluation resuIts of the six-month treatment by Naaurotiomalat showed significant effect of gold salts on the development of the level IgA (p<0.001), IgG (p<0.OO7) and IgM (p<0.001), Le. the gold salts considerably decreased the immunoglobulin level in the serum of the patients with rheumatoid arthritis, without significantly affecting the immunoelectrophoresis of the same immunoglobulin classes.
