Sažetak
Cervical squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most frequent cancers in women. In the last two decades the etiology of cervical cancer has been unequivocally established - almost 100% of the cases in all countries are related to infection with some human papillomavirus (HPV) type. Cervical cancer could be prevented and treated if detected on time. Therefore, HPV screening and typing should be encouraged because it offers greater protection than a conventional cytological test.
