Sažetak
This paper analyzes the impact of the accession process of Republic of Croatia to the European Union on Croatian legislative and institutional framework in the field of social policy and employment and argues that the process of accession to the EU inevitably leads to the process of Europeanization of social policy in acceding countries having an impact on legislative and institutional social policy framework. Additionally this paper shows that the process of Croatian accession to the EU has caused numerous changes in the field of social policy in Croatia, which are visible in everyday's life, especially in relation to working conditions and social protection. It also touches upon the question why the EU is missing the core domains (social protection, income redistribution, income adequacy) that constitute social policy at the national level. At the same time it argues that core social policy issues remain primarily national because of the differences that exist among member states in relation to how the social policy is structured and because the EU lacks recourses for legislative action and administrative capacities for implementation of social policy on the EU level.
