Sažetak
This paper examines the role of OAS in three conflicts between Latin American states during the period of the Cold War – „Soccer War“ between El Salvador and Honduras (1969), The Beagle Channel dispute between Argentina and Chile (1978-1985) and Central American conflict during 1980's. Organization of American States was established as an important part of the system of peace and security of Western Hemisphere states, but the U.S. had repeatedly tried to use it as a tool of its foreign policy in the fight against communism. The author in the case of three mentioned Latin American conflicts, contrary to conventional wisdom, concludes that OAS was not completely unsuccessful in fulfilling its mission.
