Sažetak
In front of Republic of Croatia is still a task of harmonization of national legislation with the EU acquis, which also includes adaptation of European Directive 97/68/EC. Scope of Directive 97/68/EC is internal combustion engines installed in non-road mobile machinery. The original Directive was referred only to the compression-ignition engines (Diesel engines), but later amendments expanded the scope of Directive on spark ignition engines (Otto engines). This Directive prescribes conditions and procedures for engine testing, test cycles and the emission limit values. In addition to the harmonization of legislation through the adoption of legislation into national legislation, which the Government has already done, full implementation of the Directive means and ability to control the engines placed into the market. Test laboratory is required to verify (exam, control) emissions of engines that are included by this Directive. Therefore, in this paper, test procedures, test cycles and required measuring equipment needed to perform the testing according to the requirements of the Directive where analyzed. Considering the wide scope of the Directive emphasis is on the spark ignition engine with a power up to 19 kW.
