Sažetak
Concrete industry is in a constant search for more efficient products with lower ecological footprints. By-products from other industries, formed as waste materials during industrial production processes, often have favourable chemistry to be used in concrete technology. Therefore, in a concept of circular economies, they can be turned from waste materials in one industry into valuable materials in concrete industry. This paper presents the concept applied to waste materials from four different industries available locally (steel, thermo plants, aluminium and stone quarry), the by- products of which are activated with low amount of cement to form high-performance concrete with competitive ecological, technological and economic advantages compared to traditional Portland cement concrete. Taking into account the complementary chemistry of different by- products, they are mixed in a certain ratio, ensuring low chloride diffusion coefficient and lower shrinkage during drying, which both contribute to the prolongation of service life of structures in aggressive environment.
