Sažetak
The frequently discussed question on the relation between the resistance of the blocked and a free-rotating propeller is considered. It is important to know this in order to take the nenecessary steps during ship towing or twin-screw ship sailingto keep the resistance as low as possible. The published results on the hydrodynamiccharacteristics of screw propeller series tested in four quadrantsare used in the paper. The obtained results show that the relation between a blocked and a free-rotataing propeller depends considerably on the type of propulsion plant.
