Sažetak
Main purpose of this paper was to answer questions: what is dystopia and how is it presented in two Croatian novels. Special attention is devoted to relations between utopia, anti-utopia and dystopia, and the way they function in literature, but we also bring out problems in differentiating utopia and dystopia. Then we explain aspects of dystopia: its relations to fantastic literature and tendencies of dystopic literature. We analyze dystopic elements in Croatian novels Pronalazak Athanatika by Vladan Desnica and Država Božja 2053. by Ivo Brešan. We also show similarities and differences between famous world dystopias and Croatian ones. In conclusion we discuss impact of changes in Croatian society on Croatian dystopian literature.
