Sažetak
In recent decades Croatia has tried to develop cultural tourism as a niche market or as a supplemental element of the entire tourism offer as its attractive heritage content makes a strong base for tourism development and season extension. Some local areas have recognized its possibilities, but still have not achieved significant improvement in their overall tourism sector. Although Dalmatia is mostly a swimming and leisure tourist destination, different specific- interest tourism opportunities are developing. Cultural tourism is certainly one that has great potential considering the valuable heritage resources found throughout the region, especially in urban centres. These cities include significant sacred heritage resources which have been used for tourism, although very often presented in a manner less effective and attractive than could be ideally achieved. When sacred heritage resources are included as tourist assets, requires more sensible and careful management. Specifically sacred heritage management is thought to be best achieved through perspectives of cultural tourism development.
